No.1 Ancoats Green, Manchester’s landmark residential development by This City, Manchester City Council’s housing development company, has been featured in the Housing Association Yearbook 2027, highlighting the scheme as an important benchmark for high-quality, sustainable and affordable urban living.

The first completed development by This City, No.1 Ancoats Green delivers 119 apartments across two buildings alongside ten contemporary townhouses, all carefully positioned around the revitalised Ancoats Green. With almost one third of homes offered at Manchester Living Rent levels, the project demonstrates how affordability can be combined with considered design, sustainability and long-term resident value.

As featured in the Yearbook, Jasper Sanders + Partners was appointed to design the resident amenity spaces and create a cohesive interior specification across the apartments and townhouses. The studio’s approach focused on creating welcoming, human-centred environments that support everyday living, community and connection. The publication also highlights the development’s wider commitment to Manchester’s 2038 Zero Carbon ambitions, with energy-efficient homes, enhanced landscaping, extensive new planting and sustainable transport initiatives contributing to a greener, more connected neighbourhood.

No.1 Ancoats Green demonstrates how thoughtful design, social value and environmental responsibility can combine to create a new generation of housing that supports both people and place.
